The National Administration of Drugs, Food and Medical Technology (ANMAT) has published the Provision 537/2025, through which new procedures are established in the National Food Institute (INAL) for the import and export of food products, in line with the recent Modification of the Argentine Food Code.
Among the main novelties of the standard published today (30.01.2025/XNUMX/XNUMX) in the Official Gazette, a specific procedure is implemented for obtaining the Import Authorization or Notice, as appropriate, as well as for the National Registry of Establishments (RNE), the National Food Product Registry (RNPA) and the Authorization of containers and utensils in contact with food.
Import
El Annex I The provisions regulate the requirements for the importation of food in accordance with Law No. 18.284. Importers must request an Import Authorization, except in specific cases of exception. Depending on the type of product, registration in the National Registry of Establishments (RNE), the National Registry of Food Products (RNPA) or the authorization of packaging will be necessary. The import application must be made through the SIFeGA System, presenting the corresponding documentation and payment of tariffs.
Regarding sanitary authorization and verification, the application is managed with the information of the importer, the product and the destination. The health authority, in this case, carries out an inspection of the products before authorizing their commercialization. The authorization is issued by INAL and validated in the DGA SIM System, through the Argentine Foreign Trade Single Window (VUCEA).
For products originating from specific countries, , the Australia, Canada, the Swiss Confederation, the European Union, the United States, New Zealand, Israel, Japan, the United Kingdom, and other countries with Economic Integration Treaties or Reciprocity Agreements In terms of hygiene and health, importers must submit an Import Notice to INAL. If the product has already been previously authorized, a certificate of free sale or a marketing authorization from the country of origin must be submitted.
Export
El Annex II describes the procedure for export, which does not require prior authorization or sanitary inspection, unless required by the country of destination. Exporters may request health certificates through the TAD platform.
Provision 537/2025 repeals various previous regulations and establishes a new regulatory framework for the import and export of food, coming into force immediately, according to ANMAT.
