The Ministry of Economy approved the procedure for the request and allocation of quotas for the importation of vehicles with clean technologies, through the Resolution 29 / 2025Published today (05.03.2025) in the Official Gazette, this measure seeks to strengthen the competitiveness of the automotive market and promote the supply of vehicles that use alternative motorization technologies.
The resolution of the Secretariat of Industry and Commerce is part of a set of actions promoted by the recent Decree 49/2025, which facilitates the importation of vehicles without conventional internal combustion engines, such as electric, hybrid and those with fuel cell engines.
Decree 49/2025 establishes a 0% rate for Extra-Zone Importation Duty (DIE) for vehicles that meet its specifications and whose FOB value does not exceed 16.000 US dollars. This measure will be valid for five years and sets an annual limit of 50.000 units benefiting from this regime.
Meanwhile, Resolution 29/2025 regulates the proceedings for the request and allocation of such import quotas, guaranteeing an orderly and efficient distribution of the available resources. To this end, the attachment It details the general provisions, the call for and submission of applications, the processing of quota requests, the validity of the allocation, the obligations of the assignee, verification of the import and reassignments.
Request to Customs through VUCEA and SIM
According to the Secretariat of Industry and Commerce, the implementing authority, interested parties must submit your request to the General Directorate of Customs (dependent on ARCA) and comply with the established requirements, using the Foreign Trade Single Window Regime (VUCEA) and the Malvinas Information System (SIM). In addition, ARCA will send the Undersecretariat of Industrial Policy and VUCEA the necessary information to optimize the control and implementation of the measure.
Esta measure will enter into force in a manner immediate, representing a step towards the modernization and diversification of the automotive sector in Argentina.
