Ian Saunders assumed the role of Secretary General of the World Customs Organization (WCO) on January 1, 2024, following his election in June 2023. He leads the global customs agenda, promoting trade facilitation, border security, and customs modernization. Previously, he held senior positions at the Department of Commerce and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). He holds a degree in International Affairs from Georgetown University.
