The National Service of Chilean Customs collected US$ 5.259 million in taxes paid for import operations, during the first half of this year, corresponding to VAT, fuel taxes and ad valorem duties. The figure is 14% lower than that recorded in the same period in 2015, according to statistics released today by the organization's Research Department.
The Statistical Compendium of Foreign Trade for January-June details that of the total collected, 89% corresponded to VAT, with US$ 4.656,2 million; 6% to taxes and duties on petroleum-derived fuels, with US$ 316,9 million; and the 4%, ad valorem duties, with US$ 224,5 million.
While Import tariffs fell by 9,6% During the first half of 2016, compared to the same period in 2015, taxes related to fuels fell by 24,4%, and those corresponding to added value fell by 13,2%.
In June, The collection amounted to US$ 896,1 million, which represented a 13,7% drop compared to the same month last year.
Commercial flow
Between January and June, the Chile's trade exchange totaled US$ 54.764 million, a figure equivalent to a decrease of 6,9% compared to the same period in 2015. Such a fall reflects the less dynamism which was recorded in the trade flow with America (-10,4%), Asia (-3,7%) and Europe (-3,6%).
In the first six months of the yearor, 43,4% of the exchange was concentrated in Asia, with US$ 23.744 million, with the main partners in that market being China, Japan and South Korea. It was followed by America, with 38% of the total and US$ 20.799 million; and Europe, with 16,7% and US$ 9.151 million.
The Exports decreased by 4,1% during the first half of 2016, totaling US$ 30.983 million; while Imports fell by 10,6%In the same period, with a total amount of US$ 25.327 million.
El Mining area accounted for 48% of shipments of the semester; while in the internments, the 10,8% corresponded to petroleum-derived fuels.
