Argentina declares the 2023 Book Fair to be of “national interest”

The Government of Argentina declared this Thursday (23.02.2023) "of national interest" the Forty-Seventh Buenos Aires International Book Fair, to be held from 25 from April to 15 from May of 2023, at the Rural Fairgrounds of Buenos Aires.

La Resolution 86 / 2023 published in the Official Gazette indicated that such declaration will not generate any budgetary expenditure for the Jurisdiction.

The regulations recalled that the important event is Organized by the El Libro Foundationan institution with an exemplary and prestigious track record, which has actively contributed through educational and cultural projects to our community, made up of the Argentine Society of Writers, the Argentine Chamber of Books, the Book and Magazine Sector of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, the Argentine Chamber of Publications, the Argentine Federation of Graphic and Related Industries, and the Argentine Federation of Bookstores, Stationery Stores and Related Activities.

The annual event, he said, receives "more than a million visitors, making it the Argentina's most significant cultural event and, in turn, in the most important cultural meeting of Latin America«.

As in previous editions, the regulations stated that the Fair will have "the objective of promoting books and spreading the habit of reading."

To this end, the development of conferences, workshops, round tables, shows and meetings with writers and authors will be a highlight of the 2023 Buenos Aires Book Fair.
