The Government replaces the AFIP with the Tax Collection and Customs Control Agency

-

In a surprising ad, The spokesman for the Presidency of the Argentine Nation, Manuel Adorni, confirmed today (21.10.2024/XNUMX/XNUMX) the dissolution of the Federal Administration of Public Revenues (AFIP) and the creation of the Customs Collection and Control Agency (ARCA). This measure is part of a plan to reduce the size of the State and improve efficiency in public management.

"The Government is very happy to announce that as of today the AFIP will cease to exist. In its place, the Agency for Customs Regulation and Control will be created," said Adorni, stressing that the new structure will be simpler, more efficient, less costly and less bureaucratic. The official stressed that the restructuring involves a 45% reduction in senior authorities and 35% in lower levels of the current structure, eliminating 34% of public posts.

Relocation and severance of employees

The dissolution of the AFIP entails the relocation of around 3.100 employees who, according to the Government, entered the agency illegally during the last administration. In addition, 3.155 agents will be dismissed, which represents 15% of the current staff of the entity. "This step is essential to dismantle the unnecessary bureaucracy that has hindered the economic and commercial freedom of Argentines," explained Adorni.

Salary cuts and elimination of privileges

One of the most significant changes will be the elimination of the Ranking Account for Senior Officers of the new ARCA, which implies a drastic reduction in salaries. The salary of the head of the new entity, which was around 32 million pesos, will be reduced to 4 million, the equivalent of a Minister of the Nation. The directors of the General Tax Directorate (DGI) and the General Customs Directorate (DGA), who currently receive salaries of 17 million pesos, will also see their income equal to that of a Secretary of the Nation.

New ARCA management

The Government has appointed Florence Misrahi as director of ARCA. Alongside her, Andres Gerardo Vazquez will assume ownership of the DGI y Jose Andres Velis will be in front of the DGAVázquez, with more than 30 years of experience in the DGI, and Velis, who has been responsible for the development of the Malvina computer system for customs, will lead the restructuring of these key areas in customs collection and control.

The creation of ARCA seeks not only to reduce state bureaucracy, but also to "destroy corrupt circuits" and improve efficiency in tax collection, eliminating privileges of the past and modernizing the country's customs control.
