Customs reported a major soybean exporter for under-invoicing

-

The General Directorate of Customs (DGA), dependent on the Federal Administration of Public Revenue (AFIP) found, through intelligence work, a maneuver of under-invoicing of exports exceeding 30%, carried out by the country's main supplier of soybean expeller.

The agency filed a complaint with the federal court, according to the statement released this Thursday (27.101.2022). Five homes were also raided and there are people detained by the courts. The Federal Court of Gualeguaychú, headed by Dr. Hernán Viri, is involved.

The company, which accounted for 42% of expeller exports nationwide between 2020 and 2022, sold to a Uruguayan firm belonging to the same economic group.

Expeller is a by-product obtained after the extrusion and pressing process of soybeans, which produces a concentrate with a significant protein content, generally between 40 and 47% on dry substance" and is used especially for animal feed.

According to the Customs statement, "At least US$ 1.270.000 were left abroad illegally", representing more than $190 million.

Specialized agents from the agency headed by Guillermo Michel determined that the company's sales had been made to a Uruguayan firm that belongs to the same economic group as the former.

The DGA stated that “The scheme detected by the customs investigation is serious not only in the current situation of shortage of foreign currency, but also generates unfair competition with other producers of the merchandise in question, both Argentine and Uruguayan.".
