The Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Nation reported that Argentina will be able to export wheat to China for the first time.
The announcement came last week after the approval of the corresponding procedures before the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC, in English), which included Argentine companies in the Online Quarantine Registration System for Authorized Establishments to export vegetables, animals and their products that enter the country.
China, according to Agriculture data, It is the third largest importer of wheat in the world, with around ten million tonnes per year for USD3800 billion. Its main supplier is Australia, with 5,7 million tonnes, followed by Canada, with 1,8 million tonnes.
While Argentina is among the main exporters of the cerealIn 2022, it exported 14 million tons for USD 4315 million, while in 2023, with a severe drought, foreign sales were USD 1050 million.
"According to official estimates, a total harvest of 2023 million tons is expected for the 24/15,5 campaign, which would represent an increase of 23% compared to the last harvest," the entity said in the official statement.
