The Customs Committee held on Tuesday (25.07.2023) the ordinary meeting within the framework of the Third Round of the Central American Customs Union first semester of 2023, SIECA reported.
El Salvador hosted the event coinciding with its Pro Tempore Presidency of the body that reports directly to the Council of Ministers of Economic Integration (COMIECO) and details were given of the work during this period.
According to SIECA, the customs services authorities of the Central American region followed up on the different projects and works by the following technical groups:
- Technical Regulatory Group
- IT Technical Group
- Technical Risk Group
- Authorized Economic Operator Technical Group
- CAUCA/RECAUCA Drafting Committee
- Central American Commission for Customs Valuation of Goods
- Ad Hoc Group Study of Dispatch Times
- Ad Hoc Group on Customs Modernization
Additionally, the Customs Committee reviewed the progress in updating the Central American Trade Facilitation and Competitiveness Strategy, as well as the next steps for the implementation of the Regional Master Plan for Mobility and Logistics 2035.
As can be seen, these meetings are aimed at giving continuity to the commitments arising from regional negotiations and at discussing issues of interest for Central American integration and the strengthening of trade.
