Peru's National Superintendency of Customs and Tax Administration announced on Tuesday (May 19, 2026), from Lima, the strengthening of regional cooperation aimed at advancing towards more modern, secure and efficient customs in the Americas and the Caribbean, within the framework of an official visit by authorities from the Federal Revenue Service.
The Brazilian delegation was received by Jorge Gallo, Deputy National Superintendent of Customs of the National Superintendency of Customs and Tax Administration and Regional Vice President of the World Customs OrganizationPeru holds the Regional Vice Presidency for the second period 2024–2026, after being re-elected.
In that context, it is worth remembering that last April the directors general of Customs in the region designated the Brazilian Federal Revenue Service to assume the next regional vice-presidency for the period 2026-2028.
According to SUNAT, the activity was carried out within the framework of the technical exchange and cooperation actions promoted between the customs administrations of the region.
During the day, The Peruvian customs administration presented the capabilities of the WCO Regional Laboratorywhich he described as "a strategic space for innovation, technical analysis, and the fight against illicit trade." Tools and procedures aimed at strengthening customs controls and improving risk management were presented there.
Furthermore, the delegation of The Federal Revenue Service toured the Air and Post Customs facilitiesThere, he learned about the control operations carried out by SUNAT in the International Hall and the APIS Room. The latter serves as a tactical-operational control center where specialists from Peruvian Immigration analyze information in real time and cross-reference it with risk databases.
According to SUNAT, these spaces implement risk management and customs security mechanisms designed to optimize the processes of auditing and facilitating foreign trade.
